Hajj and Umrah vaccinations
Saudi Arabia requires every Hajj and Umrah pilgrim to show a certificate of meningitis ACWY vaccination. Basingstoke Travel Clinic gives the MenACWY vaccine for £60, certificate included. Have it at least 10 days before you arrive, and ask us about other vaccines worth having for the crowds and conditions of the pilgrimage.

Required: meningitis ACWY certificate
Saudi Arabia only accepts a certificate issued at least 10 days before you arrive. For the conjugate vaccine we use, the certificate is accepted for five years. Bring it with your passport and visa documents.

Recommended for pilgrims
- Flu vaccine, because respiratory infections spread easily in large crowds
- Routine vaccines up to date, including measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) and the diphtheria, tetanus and polio booster
- Hepatitis A, and hepatitis B if you will have your head shaved: use a licensed barber and a new, single-use blade
- Any COVID-19 or other requirements in force at the time: check the Saudi Ministry of Health rules before you travel
