Who is at risk

Risk is highest in rural farming areas, especially near rice paddies and pig farms, during and after the rainy season. Short city or beach holidays carry little risk, so the vaccine is usually advised for stays of a month or more, or for rural travel.

Schedule

Two doses 28 days apart; adults aged 18 to 65 can have them a week apart if time is short. Finish the course at least a week before you travel. A booster after one to two years is advised if you keep travelling to risk areas. Whether you need it depends on your itinerary, activities and health, and we confirm that at your consultation using the latest NaTHNaC guidance.
